The factory was built by Ford Motor Works in Singapore in October, 1941 and it became Ford's first motor car assembly plant in Southeast Asia.
- Sadly, the Japanese forces invaded Singapore soon after it was built.
- The Factory’s modern assembly equipment was used by the Royal Air Force to assemble fighter planes in the Malayan Campaign.
- However, most of these aircraft defended Malaya. The aircrafts flown out of Singapore towards the end of January 1942, when the prospects for Singapore looked bleak. Many battles were fought near the Ford Factory .
- It soon taken over by the Japanese Army and used as the Japanese'smilitary headquarters.
- After the British surrendered, the Japanese forces moved its headquarters to Raffles College.
